A material statement is not the complete assessment
A declaration that the body and IML film are polypropylene identifies two materials. It does not, by itself, describe the printed label construction, closure, seal or other attachments. Nor does it identify the assessment method or recycling stream behind a recyclability claim.
Read the evidence as an answer to a specific question. A resin declaration identifies material; a design review considers features against its stated criteria; a test report records the article and conditions evaluated. Ask which question remains unanswered rather than treating these documents as interchangeable approvals.
Use the applicable PP stream and current guidance
RecyClass publishes separate March 2026 guidance for natural and white PP containers and for coloured PP containers and tubes. In the natural/white table, IML that is non-releasable in the recycling process is placed in the non-compatibility column. The coloured-PP table has different IML construction and printing conditions. The general label-material row naming PP is therefore not a complete approval of a printed IML assembly.
Identify the intended recycling stream before applying either document. Ask the reviewer to identify the applicable version and assessed construction, including the ink and attachments. Do not carry a coloured-stream conclusion into a natural/white assessment, or substitute an older supplier slide for current criteria. A material-family match leaves the printed design and complete assembly to be checked.
Know what a recycling-process report does not establish
APR PP-B-01, revised April 1, 2026, evaluates polypropylene rigid-packaging recycling compatibility. Its scope includes labels, coatings, closures and attachments. It asks for the final formed article with the decoration and attachments present when recycled. A report for an undecorated body is therefore different evidence from a report covering the complete printed pack.
The protocol explicitly does not evaluate NIR detectors misidentifying PP articles because of labels or large non-PP closures. A positive result under this protocol cannot stand in for that missing sorting question. Read the reported scope and exclusions, and ask whether separately applicable sorting evidence is required. Do not infer an APR recognition for another assembly.
Hypothetical example: the same PP description, different evidence
Assume two quotations both describe a white PP tub, printed PP IML and a removable lid. Proposal A attaches a report identifying a coloured tub with another artwork revision; the lid is not identified in the evaluated sample. Proposal B identifies the proposed white assembly, printed design and lid, and states the assessment version and stream. These are hypothetical documents, not Haihui Eastern models or test results.
Proposal B is easier to trace; that does not automatically make it recyclable or approved. Proposal A has a scope mismatch to resolve before its report can support this proposal. Ask the issuing reviewer whether the original assessment covers the changed construction or what additional review is necessary. Keep an unresolved conclusion open rather than rewriting the report in the quotation.
Check the destination beyond the laboratory result
RecyClass explains recyclability through collection, sorting, commercial recycling and use of the resulting material, with regional infrastructure affecting the outcome. A design or laboratory document does not identify the collection arrangements for every customer location.
Name the destination market and package format. Seek current, applicable collection and sorting information from the responsible system or authority. Record what remains unknown. Do not translate a technical compatibility finding into an unrestricted consumer claim or promise that the pack is accepted everywhere.
Carry the evidence scope into the IML project brief
Connect the documents to the proposed model and component references, label construction and artwork revision. If the ink system, printed design, lid or another attachment changes, ask whether the earlier assessment still covers the revised pack. Reuse the existing artwork and sample-approval process to close that question; a second generic approval sheet adds little.
Bring the intended market, available report references and unresolved scope questions to the Custom IML enquiry. Food-contact suitability, contents compatibility and commercial supply remain separate decisions. No photograph, guide or supplier demonstration on this site establishes a certified or stocked Haihui Eastern SKU.
Purchasing questions
Does a PP IML label on a PP body prove the finished pack is recyclable?
No. It identifies only part of the construction. Review the actual print, closure and attachments against the applicable stream and assessment scope, then confirm the destination system. A general material statement is not a complete-pack certificate.
Does APR PP-B-01 establish NIR sortability?
The April 1, 2026 version expressly excludes evaluating NIR misidentification caused by labels or large non-PP closures. Do not use its recycling-process result as a substitute for separately applicable sorting evidence.
Can one assessment support a claim in every market?
Do not assume that it can. Identify the assessed article, version and stream, and verify the destination collection and sorting arrangements. A technical document does not establish universal collection acceptance.
